The Cal South Soccer Foundation appoints Jordan Schweitzer to spearhead crucial soccer development projects in southern California communities.
Fullerton, Calif (October 4th, 2022)- The Cal South Soccer Foundation announces Jordan Schweitzer as the new Executive Director. Jordan Schweitzer brings a wealth of experience to the organization, stemming from prominent roles at every level of the soccer pyramid. As a Washington State native, Jordan participated in all tiers of local grassroots and youth soccer, including the Washington State ODP program and the inaugural Seattle Sounders academy. He attended the University of Denver (2012-2016) and was a four-year starter, leading the program to three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances. After a successful college career, Jordan signed as a Homegrown with the Seattle Sounders (MLS). He played for 5 seasons in the USL Championship and was involved with the Canadian U-23 and Men’s National Teams.
After retiring from his playing career, Jordan was called back to where it all began: grassroots. He worked as a Program Lead and Executive Director for the Washington Youth Soccer Foundation. He currently serves as a National Training Facilitator for the U.S. Soccer Foundation, is the Co-Founder of a Social Impact Soccer Company, and is pursuing his U.S. Soccer Coaching Licenses.
“Throughout my career, I have been fascinated with the game’s ability to connect and serve as a tool for positive change in communities”, said Schweitzer. “Sport has the ability to break down barriers and provide opportunities for youth to develop on and off the field, which makes it a key contributor in promoting social change and creating a positive impact in communities. Whether it be as a player, coach, ref, team admin or community member, the game can help develop lifelong relationships and provide an environment to connect with others in a meaningful way.”
The Cal South Soccer Foundation’s primary focus is to build and empower the community through soccer. To achieve this the Foundation will develop and maintain sustainable programs, improve existing infrastructure and operations, and reach communities with positivity. Jordan’s experience in the upper echelon of our sport, as well as his close ties to grassroots and youth soccer, matches the organization’s commitment and desire. He has always been deeply embedded in the local community, spending time at children’s hospitals, visiting schools, or assisting with soccer clinics. He has also served as Volunteer Assistant Coach at The University of Central Florida (UFC) and the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs (UCCS).
In his new role as Cal South Soccer Foundation Executive Director, Jordan is responsible for executing the organization’s vision through community collaboration, developmental programs, fundraising, and financial support. His appointment will prove invaluable to young players and families in southern California.
“I am proud to join the Cal South Soccer Foundation and help write the Foundation’s next chapter. The Cal South Soccer Foundation has a deep-rooted history of creating impact in the region and we aim to build upon that history to develop strong community relationships. When it came down to it, the opportunity to increase access to soccer for youth and local communities in Southern California was a leading factor in my decision to join. There is hard work to be done and I look forward to getting started.”
