(Thursday, January 18, 2024) – The Cal South Soccer Foundation recently presented a special clinic to local Physical Education (PE) teachers who expressed interest in receiving free soccer training and equipment to build or expand programs in their schools. The clinic was a collective effort with the LA Galaxy, the U.S. Soccer Foundation, and US Youth Soccer, and was held on Monday, January 15th at the LA Galaxy Soccer Center in Torrance, CA.

Over 100 PE teachers and individuals who run PE programs at Southern California elementary and middle schools signed up to participate in the training. Forty of those teachers attended the clinic on Monday morning, eager to receive exclusive field session training and program advice from coaches representing the U.S. Soccer Foundation and US Youth Soccer. Following the event, each teacher who attended walked away with a box of new soccer balls for use in their program or school.

“It was an incredible opportunity to work with PE teachers throughout Southern California at this training session,” said Cal South Soccer Foundation Director, Jordan Schweitzer. “These teachers and community members provide so many young students and athletes an introduction to soccer along with an environment to learn new skills, connect with peers through sport, and mentorship. We are proud to work with our partners, USYS, the US Soccer Foundation, and the LA Galaxy Foundation to host this training. A big thanks to Angel City FC for their support in providing soccer balls to every teacher who attended. This was a great way to kick off 2024 and we look forward to doing more together in the near future.”
